The Global Wales Scholarship for Postgraduate Degrees has been established. launched, providing international students from North America, India, Vietnam, and the European Union (EU) with an incredible opportunity to study in Wales.

The Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship programme provides up to £10,000 in funding for full-time master’s studies in Wales. The scholarship programme, which is set to begin in the academic year 2023, This distinguished scholarship is the first of its type in Wales. It is provided by the Global Wales Programme, a partnership between the Welsh Government, Universities in Wales, the British Council, and HEFCW supported by Taith.

The aim of the Global Wales Scholarship is to support the Welsh government’s goal of making Wales a more globally connected nation and to create opportunities for international students to study in Wales. The scholarship programme is open to postgraduate students from selected nations in any field as long as they have been accepted to a full-time postgraduate course at a Welsh university. 

Before applying for the Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship, international students must have sought a place on an approved postgraduate programme at one of Wales’ universities.

Global Wales Scholarship Eligibility criteria

This year’s Global Wales Postgraduate Scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria:

  • Have applied to study an eligible postgraduate programme at one of the selected Welsh universities.
  • You are scheduled to begin your postgraduate studies in September 2023.
  • Be considered an international student to determine tuition and fees.
  • Be a citizen of one of the selected countries.

Award

  • Scholarships will be awarded as a discount on tuition fees and will not be transferable to other students. There will not be any cash alternatives provided.
  • Suppose the total amount of the scholarship awarded is greater than the total cost of the tuition fees. In that case, the tuition expenses will be covered entirely, and any remaining funds will not be distributed.
  • Universities Wales reserves the right to revise or change the scholarship award at any time, with or without prior notice, based on the quantity and quality of applications received.
