The University of York announced the 60th anniversary of its “Be Exceptional” scholarship opportunity. International students can win a great scholarship from the University of York and save £10,000 on tuition fees! The University of York scholarships have been implemented system-wide automatically.
Across the past six decades, this offer has assisted hundreds of students in accomplishing their academic and professional objectives, and it continues to do so today. The offer provides financial assistance to exceptional students who come from underrepresented backgrounds.
To celebrate this milestone, the university will be awarding an additional 60 scholarships for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships will cover tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for recipients, and will be awarded based on academic merit and financial need.
Funding: £5,000, £7,500 and £10,000
Academic year: 2023/24
Open to: International students
Qualification level: Undergraduate and Postgraduate taught
The university gives out a number of international scholarships each year, and in recognition of their accomplishments, they receive a reduction in their tuition.
Application deadline for University of York scholarships:
- 9 January 2023 to 26 March 2023 for UG.
- 21 April 2023 to 7 July 2023 for PG.
Eligibility requirements:
- International students exclusively.
- Students must have a conditional or unconditional offer by 2 April 2023 or 18 June 2023.
- Be paying abroad fees by 2 April 2023 or 18 June 2023
- Full-time master’s degree

For undergraduate students-
To help international first-year students succeed at the University of York, the Be Exceptional 60th Anniversary Scholarship programme provides financial assistance. This award will cover a portion of your first year’s tuition costs (up to £7,500).
There are two application windows for this. They have the option of applying during either the first or second round. If an applicant is not selected in the first round, they will be considered in the second.
You will not be eligible if-
Undergraduate students who have chosen us as their insurance provider by either March 26 (round one) or June 12 (round two) 2023. Those who have received a complete tuition waiver or sponsorship are eligible (round two).
Students on the following pathways are not eligible for these scholarships-
- Hull York Medical School
- International Pathway College
- Distance and online learning courses
- Part-time courses
- Kaplan International College London
- GEMMA and Mundus MAPP
For postgraduate students-
To help international students succeed at the University of York, the university offers a number of scholarships. A handful of our scholarships cover the whole cost of tuition (up to a maximum of £10,000) for eligible students.
You will not be eligible if:

In addition to awarding scholarships, the university will also be holding a number of activities throughout the year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Be Exceptional programme and pay tribute to the accomplishments of those who have previously received scholarships. Students who are enthusiastic can submit their applications through AHZ Associates to achieve the scholarship opportunity.
