History

The University of Chester initiated the first dedicated teacher training college in the UK. The origin of the university was found in 1839 by named Chester Diocesan Training College. In 1921, Chester converted to an affiliated college of the University of Liverpool. As a result, Chester’s students could use Liverpool’s facilities. In 2005, the institute is given full university status named University of Chester.
