The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) was formed on 18 November 2010 by combining the University of Wales Lampeter and Trinity University College Carmarthen under the 1828 Royal Charter of Lampeter. As of the 1st of August 2013, Swansea Metropolitan University became part of the UWTSD.

After Oxford and Cambridge, the University’s Royal Charter is the oldest in Wales and England. It became the Royal Patron of HRH the Prince of Wales in 2011.
