Overview

The University of Westminster originated from the Royal Polytechnic, which was founded in 1838. The institution is distributed among four campuses, with three of them located in central London.

The institution enrols a diverse student body of over 19,000 individuals hailing from more than 160 countries. These students are enrolled in a wide range of academic programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate studies, as well as specialised professional programmes and short courses.

The subjects prioritise vocational training and emphasise longer courses that incorporate work-based skills and practical application. Undergraduates have the opportunity to engage in research activities while pursuing their degree, and the university has gained recognition for its exceptional media studies and fashion programmes, which are often regarded as among the top in the world.

Westminster, which marked its 175th anniversary in 2013, continues to make substantial investments in various facilities, including dormitories and the restoration of one of Britain’s earliest cinemas located within the Regent Campus.

All four University of Westminster resident halls are self-catering, and most rooms have private bathrooms. Need help choosing London private halls or applying to university halls? Help is available from the dedicated student housing team.

Harrow Hall, an eco-friendly campus complex with self-contained rooms in tiny, purpose-built, low-rise blocks with lush gardens and shrubs, is attractive. All Harrow students, first-year and continuing, Marylebone Hall is near Baker Street tube station and Madame Tussaud’s. This location makes it easy to access the West End’s restaurants, cafes, boutiques, theatres, and nightlife. All undergraduate and graduate students need this for study abroad or exchange.

Location as the first-year student community has many benefits for Raffles House. Being next to Wembley Stadium and Arena ensures constant activity. Plus, Hertfordshire University and Harrow Campus are two stations away. This applies to current and prospective Central London undergraduate and graduate students.

Alexander Fleming Hall is in east London’s hip, happening neighbourhood. The area has many nightlife venues, retail shops, restaurants, and food markets. All undergraduate and graduate students need this for study abroad or exchange.

International students with housing offers who apply before May 1 of their academic year will be given priority. The university’s housing office will continue to assist international students in finding housing and provide resources for private accommodations after this date.

Transport

Getting around London is a breeze. Among their world-class public transport options are the iconic red double-decker buses and the Tube (London Underground).

You can’t beat the London Underground, the world’s oldest underground railway, for getting around the city. The 270 stations help to bring a sense of scale to this massive metropolis. There is no easier way to travel to London than by using this in addition to the rail, bus, and bike networks.

Location

Three campuses are located in the heart of London, and the fourth is in the suburb of Harrow; together, they make up the University of Westminster. Northwick Park, which is on the Metropolitan Line, is the closest tube station to Harrow Campus.

There is something for everyone in London, including the many stores, restaurants, pubs, and sports facilities on campus at the University of Westminster. Within easy reach are numerous cultural and recreational attractions, including theatres, museums, galleries, theatres, and restaurants.

The campuses are conveniently located near many famous London attractions, including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, as well as the British Library, Tate Modern, the London Eye, and the BBC.
