History

Once known as the Loughborough University of Technology, it was the first institution of its kind in the UK. In 1996, the school officially became known as Loughborough University. The reunion with Loughborough College of Education in 1977 and with Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1998 are two other noteworthy events.

At Loughborough University, students may choose from 16 different residence halls. Seven of these halls are catered, six are self-catered, and three are managed jointly with an outside service provider. International students are guaranteed a residence hall room at University Halls for a minimum of two years.
