History of Falmouth University

To “promote the useful and fine arts, to encourage industry, and to elicit the ingenuity of a community distinguished by its mechanical skill,” the Falmouth School of Art first opened its doors in 1902.

Using imagination to shape the future of manufacturing was the original mission of the institution. To mark this occasion, they dug into the past and polled the locals for insights into the forces that have moulded us.

The Communications department at Falmouth University has been responsible for creating the prospectus covers in-house since 2016. In 2023, they captured the vitality of their students and their developing creative identities as a driving force for innovation using a combination of studio photography, careful image enhancement, and thoughtful graphic design.

When it comes to hospitality, events management, and tourism, Falmouth is regarded as the sixth top institution in the UK by the Guardian institution Guide 2021 and first in the UK, second in Europe, and 28th in the world by the Princeton Review 2021.

The University of Falmouth ranks first in the United Kingdom (Capital on Tap 2021) for the percentage of graduates who go on to found or run their own businesses, and approximately 23.5 percent of its alumni go on to found or lead their own businesses.

In the Research Excellence Framework 2021, all research impact case studies conducted by Falmouth University received the highest possible rating of 4 stars, while 63.4% of all research outputs were deemed to be either world-leading or internationally excellent, respectively.

Ask a Student is a feature on the university’s website that allows prospective students and candidates to communicate with existing students from anywhere in the world.

International students at Falmouth University have the opportunity to network with one another and travel to places of historical and cultural significance through the university’s international society. There are many free English lessons, CV writing workshops, and courses in specialised fields of study offered by the University.

At the start of each semester, we offer a pick-up service from London Heathrow Airport.

Accommodation in Falmouth can be found in both Penryn and Falmouth, and it is available to suit a wide range of price points and preferences. Each of the two- to nine-person apartments has its own free internet connection, fully-stocked kitchen, dining area, and, in certain buildings, a common lounge. If a first-year student applies for university-run housing by the deadline, they are assured a spot.
