Abertay University

History

Abertay University was founded in 1888 as the Dundee Technical Institute, offering evening classes in subjects such as chemistry, engineering, and art. In the early 20th century, the institute expanded its offerings to include full-time day courses, and in 1913, it was renamed the Dundee Technical College. In the decades that followed, the college continued to grow and evolve, adding new programs and facilities. In 1994, it was granted university status and was renamed Abertay University.

Since becoming a university, Abertay has become known for its strong focus on practical, hands-on learning and has a reputation for producing highly skilled graduates who are well-prepared for successful careers in their chosen fields. The university has also made a name for itself in the field of computer games technology, and is home to the internationally renowned Dundee School of Games. In addition to being the first UK University to offer the field of Ethical Hacking, Abertay University also pioneered a number of degrees related to computer games. Since the last REF in 2014, Abertay has seen the most rise (23 percentage points) of any Scottish university in terms of research that is either “internationally exceptional” or “world-leading,” as determined by the institution itself.

Scholarships

• Abertay International Scholarship 2023- Up to £12,000

New international undergraduate students might receive a scholarship of up to £12,000. The grant provides £3,000 every year, up to a maximum of four years. The amount of the award will be applied to the recipient’s college expenses.

Accommodation

Privately owned or leased by the University, student accommodation comes in a variety of forms. First-year students are given preference when it comes to housing. There are four independent living options available to students at Abertay. Whether you’re looking for a private studio or a large apartment to share with a group of friends, you’ll find a wide range of options within commuting distance of the University. The apartments are furnished and equipped with basic cooking utensils and utensils. There is also security on campus at all hours.

Location
