History

Since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened the University of Lincoln‘s Brayford Pool Campus in 1996, more than £ 350 million has been invested in the buildings and facilities, and although the institution can trace its history back to 1861, it is rated as one of the best new universities in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. Student Life

It is located in a compact and beautiful historic city in England’s East Midlands area. With all the excitement and comfort of living in the middle of a vibrant city, the University of Lincoln offers students a close-knit campus community. At the heart of it all is the university’s campus. Located on the picturesque waterfront of Brayford Pool, it offers almost everything you’ll need, either on campus or a short walk away, to modern student-centred culture. You can find a number of restaurants, cafes, and bars overlooking the marina area a short walk from campus, while the high street and side streets of the city offer a mix of independent and speciality shops and national brands and chains.

The lively and diverse nightlife is complemented by restaurants, cosy pubs and bustling live music venues. There are plenty of groups and sports clubs in which students can participate. The On-Campus Sports Center of the University offers many of the facilities used by the sports clubs of the Students’ Union, including five-a-side football fields, squash courts, basketball courts, hockey pitches, and trampolines.

There are plenty of events and facilities for them to enjoy on campus and in the city while students are not studying. There are many large on-campus venues run by the University of Lincoln Students’ Union that are common hotspots for students during the day and at night. Such venues were named in the Best Bar None Awards in 2017 as some of the safest in the world.

Accommodation

New undergraduate students who confirm Lincoln as their first choice before the deadline are guaranteed accommodation by the university. Most student accommodation at the university is either on the Brayford Pool Campus or only a short distance away, right in the heart of Lincoln’s city center.

The Student Village contains the on-campus housing of the University and consists of two waterfront complexes that are purpose-built: Lincoln Courts and Cygnet Wharf. A number of halls of residence and shared living options are also operated by the University for new and continuing students who chose to live off-campus. The Accommodation Services team can help

Transport

The main campus of the university is situated in the center of the city, which means that students do not need a car for transport. They can just ride or walk to the campus. Cyclists have on-site bike shops and the main train and bus stations in the city are less than half a mile from the campus. The busy high street of Lincoln is only a five-minute walk from the campus.

Lincoln and London have regular direct rail services, with King’s Cross Station less than 2 hours away by train. Lincoln is also well linked to major cities such as Nottingham, Sheffield and Hull in the area, as well as to regional airports.
