From October 1, 2024, Brunel University London will officially become a member of the prestigious University of London federation, becoming the 18th member of the federation.
World-class teaching and research are provided by the distinctive University of London, a federation of 17 separate higher education institutions. With over 250,000 students representing 190 nationalities, the University of London federation has one of the largest and most diverse student populations globally. The universities that make up the federation employ more than 50,000 people in total.
Around 40,000 students study across the University of London federation, and as part of this federation, Brunel University London gets recognition for its pivotal role in West London’s economy as well as its global reputation for education and research.
This decision was made after a thorough evaluation by the University of London panel. Throughout the panel discussion, Brunel’s commitment to addressing social challenges locally and globally aligned perfectly with UCL’s mission.
The University of London is the largest provider of international online and distance education in the UK, collaborating with federation members in order to improve global access to higher education.

Professor Jones conveyed his delight at this progress. He emphasised its outstanding portfolio of research and education, as well as its strong global vision. He underlined that Brunel’s knowledge, particularly in the sciences and engineering, will greatly increase the federation’s influence both domestically in London and abroad.
The University of London is the UK’s largest provider of international online and distance education, working with federation members to broaden access to higher education worldwide. Brunel’s entry into this federation is a testament to its growing impact and reputation on the global stage.
